EN 1063 BR6 class testing of resistance against bullet attack

EN 1063 standard is commonly used in the UK and Europe for ballistic protection. EN 1063 standard is originally intended for transparent armor. EN 1063 standard has also been widely adopted for testing of composite (especially GFRP) armor. BR6 is also written as B6.

Note: The classes BR1 ...BR7 are classified in order of the level of protection offered, e.g. a panel complying with the requirements specified for a certain class complies with those specified for the preceding classes.

EN 1063 standard applies to the attack by handguns, rifles and shotguns. EN 1063 is also used in conjunction with EN 1522 test standard for bullet resistant doors, shutters and blinds. The threat levels differ in their designation: “FB” for EN 1522 and “BR” for EN 1063. However, the threat ammunitions and velocities are the same.
